生産性を保つ工夫

最近、また締め切り付きの雑務が増えてきました。。。そういった中で生産性を保つにはどうしたらいいかというと、実は私が教えてほしいくらいなんですが、基本はおそらく「自分一人になれる時間を、なるべく大きなチャンクとして確保する」ということに尽きます。

あとは自分の生産性の日内リズムの波を自覚することですね。私は以前、その日に一番大事な仕事を午後に入れる傾向があったのですが、特に頭を使う仕事は午前の一番に始めた方がはかどることがわかってからは、なるべく午前中に始めてある程度のところまで一気に進めてしまうことにしています。

人と会う約束は、先方に失礼のない限りなるべく午前か夕方(つまり一日の始めか終わりの近く)にしてもらっています。よくある午後1時とか2時とかに入れてしまうと、一日の大きな時間のチャンクが分断されてしまい、その日一日がつぶれてしまうおそれがあります。人と会うのが主な仕事である管理職ならそれでもいいのかもしれませんが、あなたが自身で成果を生み出す必要のある「現役の研究者」なら、その時間帯は避けるのが賢明でしょう。
